Climate & Packing Tips

While on tour casual dress is perfect, however as we do dine in some nice restaurants you may want to dress smart casual for dinner. We do walk/hike so comfortable and cool clothing is recommended. Consider bringing clothes that protect from the sun (e.g. coloured shirts and long sleeves). When packing, take into account the time of year you are travelling — nights can be cooler. Please remember our maximum luggage weight is 18kg plus a day pack/hand luggage.

Six weeks prior to departure you will receive packing tips specific to your tour.

Kimberley Climate

Dry Season (May – October). South-easterly breezes bring sunny days and cool nights. Temperatures vary from 15–35 °C, although some parts of the Kimberley can drop below 0 °C overnight including Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungles).

Wet Season (November – April). The hottest part of the year, especially November before the rains break, when temperatures frequently reach well over 40 °C inland. Rainfall is unpredictable and heavy at times with high humidity — and waterfalls come alive.

West Coast Climate

Jewels of the West Coast & Pilbara Tour.

This tour covers Tropical Monsoon in the Kimberley, Tropical Arid in the Pilbara and Gascoyne, and Mediterranean in Perth. The north and inland regions are dry with daytime maximums up to 35 °C and overnight lows around 15 °C. Further south and along the coast, autumn or spring departures can see showers, particularly south of Kalbarri. Perth daytime maximums sit around 26 °C in April and 23 °C in August, with overnight minimums of 7–8 °C.

Northern Territory Climate

Dry Season (May – October). Blue skies and daily temperatures comfortably between 20 °C and 35 °C. You may get the odd cooler night during June and July.

Wet Season (November – April). Humidity sets in and overnight minimums rise. Temperatures range from a minimum of 25 °C overnight up to 35 °C by day with humidity around 80%.

South West Climate

South West Discovery Tour & Nullarbor and Southern Ocean Tour.

These tours depart in autumn and spring under a Mediterranean climate — cool evenings and warmer days with the chance of rain. Daytime maximums are typically 20–30 °C (occasionally above 35 °C inland). Overnight lows are usually 10–15 °C and can dip to around 5 °C.
